About Murphy & McGonigle

Murphy & McGonigle is proud to give back to our community through partnerships with area non-profit organizations.

  • Again this year, Murphy & McGonigle has joined forces with the Virginia Attorney General's Office and the Federation of Virginia Food Banks in the 8th Annual Statewide Legal Food Frenzy.  In both 2012 and 2013, we took home the first place "Brunswick Stew Award" for raising the most food of any small firm in Virginia - the equivalent of over 26,000 pounds in 2012 and over 30,000 pounds in 2013.
  • Murphy & McGonigle provides support to the mission of St. Aloysius School, an independent pre-kindergarten through grade 8 Jesuit school located in Central Harlem, dedicated to educating at-risk inner city children.
  • The firm sponsors Girl Scouts of America Troop 3181, which draws girls from the Fulton Hill neighborhood in Richmond. The firm contributes to troop activities such as camping, field trips, and badge work.
  • For the 2013 holiday season, the New York offices sponsored a food drive in connection with City Harvest.  City Harvest has been serving New York City for more than 30 years and is the world's first food rescue organization, dedicated to feeding the city's hungry men, women, and children.
  • As an annual tradition, the firm spends a day each spring volunteering at the Special Olympics of Virginia Area 6 Spring/Summer Games.
  • Last September, the Richmond office organized a team to enter the Amazing Raise 5k marathon, a challenge run that supports over 500 local charities.
  • Murphy & McGonigle joins with the  YMCA of Greater Richmond to provide backpacks for local children through their "Backpack Buddies" program. We also support Richmond's Northminster Church by providing backpacks of school supplies for children in need. Through Northminster's Free Market program, families visiting the church's food pantry may "shop" for needed items.
  • As an annual tradition, the attorneys and staff purchase gifts of clothes and toys for local children in need through the Salvation Army Angel Tree program.  This past holiday season, the firm also "adopted" a number of area senior citizens and purchased gifts such as space heaters and microwaves.
  • Volunteers from Murphy & McGonigle participate in the annual Georgetown Law Firm Challenge, which pays for scholarships, student organizations and more at Georgetown Law School.  In 2013, the firm was again named to the "Honor Roll of Donors" for its 100% participation in the challenge.
  • The firm is proud to support Project Hope, an organization that works to provide health education and humanitarian aid to communities around the world.
